Reasa

A comprehension agent for higher education. Reasa holds a conversation with a student about the material and judges whether they have understood it.

Reasa never gives a student the answer, and never leads a student to one.

That single rule shapes how Reasa is built. A system that judges understanding is only useful if it cannot be turned into one that supplies understanding, and most of our research exists to establish where that line holds and where it does not.

What Reasa is not

It does not watch students. It does not report them. It has no opinion about how an answer was arrived at outside the conversation it had. Reasa asks and listens; that is the whole of its access.

Who it is for

Instructors in higher education, at the level of a single course. Departments and institutions follow from that, not ahead of it.

Where it stands

In development, and not yet released. Instructors will be able to apply to run it in a single course; applications open at launch.

What we tried, what held, and what did not is published as we go.
